    Syntelligent Gets Muddy…Again

Luray, VA – September 30, 2017 –  On Saturday, September 30, Syntelligent entered a team in the Blue Ridge Mountain Mudurance, a 5K mud race held at Ralph H. Dean Recreation Park in Luray, Virginia. Organized by the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce as a fundraiser for their non-profit, this was Syntelligent's second year of participating in the event.  The Syntelligent team of runners ranged in ages from 10-60, with 3 of the team members running for the second year.

Congratulations to Syntelligent high school intern, Bryce Ancell, who came in 4th out of 297 runners. A strong competitor and high school athlete, Bryce was cheered over mud hills and through the mud holes of the cross country route. He sprinted to the finish after rising to every challenge – tire mountains, hay tunnels, ice bath, mountain water slide, and wooden obstacle walls in front of him.

Equally inspiring was the performance of Maggie Marangione, Syntelligent Research Analyst, who decided to challenge herself just nine months after a hip replacement to “check off an item from her Bucket List.”

“Watching Maggie cross that finish line this year was one of the most motivating experiences of the day,” said Rose Ann Smythe, Syntelligent Community Affairs Coordinator. “ I was so impressed with her participation and determination to be a part of this team. She is my new hero! ”

In addition to the team of runners, Syntelligent also provided numerous volunteers to photograph, help direct, and monitor competitors along the circuitous route. Syntelligent staff members Morgan Moore, Te’Quaya Giddens, and Holly Conrad drove 2 hours each way to join the Luray volunteers in this event.

Our team pictured below, includes: Bryce Ancell, Justin Fletcher, J’Shawn Carter, Trenton McDonough, Margaret Marangione, and Woody Woodall with CEO Stephen Synnott standing behind them.

    Syntelligent Attends Virginia Workforce Conference

Richmond, VA – September 28, 2017 – Representing Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent), Kellie Corley, Talent Acquisition Director, and Rose Ann Smythe, Community Affairs Coordinator, attended the 2017 Virginia Chamber Workforce Conference in Richmond. The theme for this year’s event was Veterans: Closing the Workforce Gap, with the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program as one of the primary hosts of the affair. With a strong history of recruiting and hiring veterans, Syntelligent achieved V3 certification in March 2017, and is one of the 430 V3-certified companies that have hired 26,721 veterans since 2012.

The conference focused on sharing best practices to enable employers do a better job recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly-skilled veterans and translating their training to private sector employment. John Newby, the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veteran Services, spoke to a crowd of hundreds of employers, veteran groups, educators, and policy makers about using Virginia’s highly skilled veteran population to fill Virginia‘s workforce demands.

Two panel discussions, highlighting the Business Case for Hiring Veterans and the Importance of the Virginia Workforce Pipeline, tapped into the expertise of successful employers, recruiters, business leadership, educators and military advocates.

Both gubernatorial candidates, Republican Ed Gillespie and Democrat Ralph Northam were given opportunities to address the conference attendees. Gillespie spoke about his plan to improve the conversion of military training into certification, saying, “If you served in the military and you gained a skill, you shouldn’t have to go back to school to get certified for a skill you could teach.” He also stated that he would like to see the number of V3 certified companies double.

Lt. Governor Northam highlighted the successes of getting homeless veterans off the streets, increasing support for returning military veterans, and the growth of the V3 program in the last 4 years. “We have made tremendous efforts and tremendous success with the transitioning program in Virginia.”

Governor McAuliffe addressed the conference during lunch. He began his remarks with a reminder that Virginia is home to one of the largest veteran populations, with more veterans per capita than any other state. “By continuing our focus on creating economic opportunities for veterans and their families, we will remain the best state in the nation for veterans and their families.”  Governor McAuliffe then presented fifteen V3 Awards.

CEO of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions on Capitol Hill

Washington, D.C. – June 21, 2017 – Stephen Synnott, CEO of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent), and chairman of the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Council's Government Affairs Committee spent the day on Capitol Hill today, participating in a HUBZone Legislative Fly-In. The purpose of the Fly-In was to provide an education and advocacy event for HUBZone Small Business owners and to serve as an opportunity for Congressmen to learn more about the successes and challenges of the HUBZone program from business managers across the country.

The HUBZone Program is an economic development program established in 1997 to encourage small businesses to locate in and hire employees from economically disadvantaged areas of the U.S. Upon certification from the Small Business Administration, companies participating in the HUBZone program receive competitive advantages in winning federal contracts.

The morning session opened in the Cannon House Office Building with remarks by House Small Business Committee Chair, Steve Chabot (R- OH1). Staffers from Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH1), Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-NY7), Sen. James Risch (R-ID), and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) participated in a bi-partisan congressional panel discussion on HUBZone business success stories and issues. Mr. Synnott cited the positive economic impact his company, Syntelligent, has had in Page County, stimulating the local economy by providing jobs for 24 residents and renting commercial office space.

Following remarks from Rep. John Delaney (R-MD6) in support of the HUBZone program, the HUBZone Council Policy Team panel discussed effective advocacy needed to provide certainty for HUBZone businesses by encouraging capital investment and job creation in the communities that need it most. There were over 40 business leaders participating in the session that provided background information on three bills introduced to help modernize the HUBZone Program and help more communities grow and generate jobs.

After presenting on the Policy Team Panel, Mr. Synnott had individual meetings with staffers in Sen. Kaine's (D-VA), Rep. Goodlatte's (R-VA6), and Rep. Beyer's (D-VA8) offices. He shared with each that he is proud to own a HUBZone certified company that has created jobs in Page County, Virginia, an area of high unemployment, and that he attributes his revenue growth of 3789% in 5 years to his participation in the HUBZone program. Mr. Synnott is a strong advocate of the HUBZone program and, “… hopes that these meetings will continue to increase awareness of the benefits of the program and the positive impact that it can have in the communities it affects.”

Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC Demonstrates Commitment to Millennial Analytic Training at IAEC

Charles Town, WV, May 24, 2017 – Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent), Senior Researcher, Margaret Marangione, recently participated in the 13th annual International Association for Intelligence Education Conference at the American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia. During the three-day event, attendees from nine nations heard key-note addresses and presentations by spy catchers, spy trackers, intelligence analysts, law enforcement officials and instructors of intelligence education – a key area of research at Syntelligent. Syntelligent's thrust is to address training and certifying staff augmentation specialists from the Millennial cohort to meet the needs of a multi-generational government workforce.

The overriding theme of the conference was a call for more courses and programs in intelligence and law enforcement education to ensure that contract personnel are ready to meet the challenges of cybercrime, terrorism financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Syntelligent has devoted extensive resources to address the changing means by which the generation born in the late 1990s learn and share information, which is dramatically different than the cognition process of the Baby Boom generation (now passing out of the workforce) and that of GenX, which forms a bridge between old and new generations who have grown up not with computers, but smart devices.

Marangione made a high-impact presentation, describing her innovative training program that combines distance learning, seminars and direct subject training associated with contract award to provide the Government confidence that in the current fiercely competitive environment the Government has confidence that it will get the skills it needs to meet complex challenges to national security.

Among other issues addressed beyond terrorism were tax evasion, money laundering, the spread of ransomware and the critical understanding of accounting principles to detect financial crimes. Open-source research in the Deep Web and the Cloud were both stressed as the ways ahead for modern analytic techniques.

Syntelligent is proud to have had Margaret showcase our commitment to innovation to the intelligence community, law enforcement and the military departments. Papers documenting her research in effectively training the Millennial Generation have been submitted to the Harvard Security Review, the Journal of Counterintelligence and the American Intelligence Journal to continue to advance the cause of quality analysis for a new generation.

Page County HUBZone Business Success Story on Capitol Hill

Washington. DC - July 13, 2016 - Stephen R. Synnott, President/CEO of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent) recently participated in a briefing on Capitol Hill  about the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program. As a member of a panel from the HUBZone Contractors National Council and Chair of the Council’s Legislative Affairs Committee, Mr. Synnott shared HUBZone success stories with 60 congressional staffers and business owners present at the briefing. These stories included the success of Syntelligent, his Virginia-based government contracting firm that has grown from grown from 7 to 70 employees in the past four years. Syntelligent currently employs 27 Page County residents (5 full-time and 22 part-time).

Mr. Synnott attributes Syntelligent’s growth and success to participation in the HUBZone program in Page County. The HUBZone program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing federal contracting preferences to small HUBZone certified businesses. These preferences go to HUBZone companies in part for employing staff that live in a HUBZone and maintaining a “principal office” in one of these specially designated areas. Syntelligent’s principal office is located in Luray, VA within Page County.

“While Syntelligent is headquartered in Falls Church, I chose to open a principal office in Page County to become HUBZone certified. In 2012, I had 66 applicants for the first 3 part-time positions in my Luray office. I knew there was a competent workforce here with limited employment opportunities. Of the initial 6 employees I hired from Page in 2012, 3 are still here. We have good people in Page, and I am proud to give them opportunities to work and learn. As we continue to grow, there are increasing opportunities to grow into to full-time employees.”

Mr. Synnott views growing a workforce as an important personal goal of his. Initiating a paid internship experience for high school students this year, Syntelligent is providing teenagers training and work experience while they are still in school. Early work experience enables student interns to gain professional employment or motivate them to seek additional certification, education, and/or training after high school. Mr. Synnott’s future plans include expanding internship opportunities to Page County LFCC students in their IT certification and/or degree programs.

Falls Church, VA  -  September 22, 2014 - Stephen R. Synnott, President/CEO of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC, a professional services and consulting firm catering to U.S. National security and private sector customers,  participated in a Small Business Seminar, Ask the Experts: Answers to Your Contracting Questions, at the National HUBZone Council Conference. The September 19th panel discussion was hosted by the HUBZone Council and included experts from the following HUBZone companies: Premier Technical Services, Street Legal Industries, Federal Maintenance Hawaii and Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC.

The HUBZone Contractors National Council is a non-profit trade association providing information and support for companies and professionals interested in the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Contracting Program. The annual meeting of the HUBZone Council, brought together hundreds of small business contractors and dozens of federal agency and prime contractor representatives for two days filled with education and networking opportunities. This year's event took place at the Westfields Marriott Conference Center, located in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington Dulles International Airport.

The panelists answered questions regarding some of the challenges of the HUBZone program, including award and eligibility protests; employee recruitment and retention and principal office location for HUBZone companies. When asked about the appropriateness of protests, the panel agreed that protests should be based on undeniable evidence that a company is not meeting the requirements of the HUBZone program in order to preserve the integrity of the program. The panel provided many valuable suggestions for employee recruitment and retention including, but not limited to, a direct mail campaign to HUBZone addresses, posting of flyers on notice boards in HUBZone areas, providing training and counseling to your HUBZone residing employees to help them keep their job, etc. They also provided clarification on the issue of principal office location and employee numbers at such. Throughout the discussions, their individual experiences within the HUBZone program highlighted the benefits and challenges of this exclusive program.

Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC Receives Veteran Institute for Procurement Certification

Company Aims to Expand its Presence in the Government Marketplace

Falls Church, VA 21 October, 2013 - Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent) recently completed the Veteran Institute Procurement (VIP), a comprehensive training and certification program that helps veteran-owned businesses strengthen their ability to win government contracts and do business with both military and civilian agencies they once served in uniform.

On October 17, 2013, Syntelligent was one of 52 businesses from 10 states and the District of Columbia to graduate from the National Center for the Veteran Institute for Procurement. During the program’s graduation, Stephen Synnott, Syntelligent’s President & CEO was presented with a congressional citation on behalf of Congressman James P. Moran, Jr.

“As a small business based in the Northern Virginia area, navigating the ins and outs of working with the Federal Government can be a challenge,” said Stephen Synnott, Syntelligent’s President& CEO.  “The VIP procurement certification is a vehicle that will help us access government contracting opportunities and ensure government buyers that we are prepared and capable of delivering excellent service.”

The first program of its kind in the nation, VIP is conducted by professional subject-matter specialists in the essentials necessary to win government contracts: law, accounting, insurance, human resources, marketing and proposals. It also provides participants with access to Federal and prime contracting executives along with a national network of veteran owned small businesses that they can team with on opportunities.

Since its launch in 2009, VIP has helped 348 service-disabled and veteran-owned small businesses grow.  A survey of 121 of the program's graduates determined that 1,535 new jobs were created and the size of their businesses increased by an average of 41% within a year of graduating from the Institute. More than 80% of surveyed graduates credited VIP for equipping them to make recent business decisions and avoid unseen pitfalls. Additionally, veteran-owned businesses are more likely to hire, mentor and train other war veterans as they transition to private life, which is a national priority.

"We are honored to give back to the men and women who served our county by providing them with the tools necessary to succeed as government contractors." said Barbara Ashe, President of the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation. “We hope this training fosters their success as businesses and employers.”

VIP is a three-day, 27-hour comprehensive certification program. Participants must be a C-level leader in a Veteran-owned small business operating for at least two years with a minimum of 3 full time employees, and experience working on government contracts as a prime and/or sub-contractor to a prime. With volunteer instructors and at no cost to participants, VIP is funded by public and private sponsors and run by the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation.
