Washington. DC - July 13, 2016 - Stephen R. Synnott, President/CEO of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, LLC (Syntelligent) recently participated in a briefing on Capitol Hill about the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program. As a member of a panel from the HUBZone Contractors National Council and Chair of the Council’s Legislative Affairs Committee, Mr. Synnott shared HUBZone success stories with 60 congressional staffers and business owners present at the briefing. These stories included the success of Syntelligent, his Virginia-based government contracting firm that has grown from grown from 7 to 70 employees in the past four years. Syntelligent currently employs 27 Page County residents (5 full-time and 22 part-time).

Mr. Synnott attributes Syntelligent’s growth and success to participation in the HUBZone program in Page County. The HUBZone program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing federal contracting preferences to small HUBZone certified businesses. These preferences go to HUBZone companies in part for employing staff that live in a HUBZone and maintaining a “principal office” in one of these specially designated areas. Syntelligent’s principal office is located in Luray, VA within Page County.

“While Syntelligent is headquartered in Falls Church, I chose to open a principal office in Page County to become HUBZone certified. In 2012, I had 66 applicants for the first 3 part-time positions in my Luray office. I knew there was a competent workforce here with limited employment opportunities. Of the initial 6 employees I hired from Page in 2012, 3 are still here. We have good people in Page, and I am proud to give them opportunities to work and learn. As we continue to grow, there are increasing opportunities to grow into to full-time employees.”

Mr. Synnott views growing a workforce as an important personal goal of his. Initiating a paid internship experience for high school students this year, Syntelligent is providing teenagers training and work experience while they are still in school. Early work experience enables student interns to gain professional employment or motivate them to seek additional certification, education, and/or training after high school. Mr. Synnott’s future plans include expanding internship opportunities to Page County LFCC students in their IT certification and/or degree programs.
