Luray, VA -November 21, 2020 - The eighth annual Syntelligent Toys for Tots Drive 2020 exceeded all expectations, in spite of the challenge of Covid-19. While TV network news was lamenting that donations for the Marine Toys for Tots Drive was down 40% nationally, Syntelligent employees tripled their donation to this charity and were featured on the Northern Shenandoah Valley’s Harrisonburg TV3 news.
From 2013-2019, Syntelligent employees brought toys to donate to Toys for Tots at the annual company party in December at P.J.Skiddos in Fairfax. As part of this tradition, active duty Marine volunteers were invited to join the staff for dinner and drinks. As part of the evening festivities, Stephen Synnott, CEO and President, would present all the donated toys to the Marines to take to the Quantico Toys for Tots distribution center.
Like many companies around the world in 2020, Syntelligent had to cancel their holiday party. But, determined to continue the company tradition of a Toys for Tots drive, Syntelligent employees rose to the challenge. All 94 employees from around the country were invited to donate to the drive and to mail in or deliver their toys to the Luray, Virginia office as the collection site. The local community was invited to drop off donated toys as well.
The volume of toy donations turned the HR office in Luray into a Christmas wonderland.
“The donations that came in over the last 4 weeks were very heartwarming. We are proud to support this important charity for children again this year, “ said Mr. Synnott.
All of the toys donated were loaded onto a pick-up truck by Page County Marine volunteers and driven to the Northern Virginia Toys for Tots distribution center in Stephens City. From there, they will be distributed to children in need in the local area.
